About the practice

Almost nobody starts from zero.

Restoration Enterprises is a UK coaching practice for people rebuilding: their money, their working life, or both at once. This page explains where the name came from, who is behind it, and what we will not do.

The name

Restoration is a trade word, and we chose it on purpose

Nobody restores something worthless. That is the first thing the word carries: whatever is being worked on already has value, and the value is the whole reason for the effort. It is not a rescue. It is certainly not a makeover.

Almost nobody arrives at coaching starting from zero. They arrive at minus something, or at a dead stop. A separation that halved a household and doubled the paperwork. A redundancy that landed in the middle of a mortgage. A business that was a decent idea and still did not work. Or the quietest version of all: ten years of just-about-managing, where nothing went badly wrong and nothing got better either.

By then people have usually been told, one way or another, that the problem is them. That they are bad with money. That they should have seen it coming. Restoration starts from the opposite assumption: the structure is sound, the finish has taken a beating, and the work is careful, unglamorous and worth doing.

The word sets the method too. A restorer does not begin with a grand plan; they begin by finding out what is actually there. Strip it back, look at the damage without flinching, then work in order: structure before surface, because a beautiful coat of paint over a rotten frame is money spent twice. An honest picture first. Decisions second. Nothing skipped because it is uncomfortable to look at.

And it sets the pace. Writing a plan takes an afternoon; living one takes a year. That is why programmes here are measured in months, and why the useful question is never what should I do but what will I still be doing in March.

Finally, it is a limit. A restorer does not quietly bin the thing and sell you a shinier replacement. The work is the work.

The founder

The person you will be sitting with

Restoration Enterprises was founded by Clement Sunday Jegede, who does the coaching. There is no team standing behind a website here. The person you meet on the free discovery call is the person you work with in month five, and the person who remembers what you said in March.

The method is the one the name implies. An honest picture first: income, outgoings, debts, and what you are actually aiming at. This is built partly from a questionnaire you complete beforehand so the session itself is not spent on admin. Then the two or three decisions that would change the most, put in order. Structure before surface, because a tidy-looking plan laid over a problem nobody has properly examined is work you pay for twice.

Sessions are one-to-one and unhurried: 90 minutes to map the whole picture, then 60 minutes each time after that, fortnightly at first, monthly once things settle. A written plan follows the first session within three working days, and it is yours to keep whether you carry on or not. Questions between sessions are answered within two working days; a new enquiry gets a reply within one working day.

What is promised is deliberately narrow. Nothing said in a session is reported back to an employer who is paying for it, and where a free service would serve you better, you will hear that on the first call. That is the call where a client walks away, and it is still the right answer.

What we hold to

Four things that do not bend

Values are cheap to publish, so here are only the ones that change what actually happens in a session.

Plain language, always

If a sentence needs a glossary, it was the wrong sentence. You should be able to explain your own plan to someone else, from memory, without feeling either clever or stupid.

Your interests, not ours

There is no version of a session where our interests point somewhere different to yours. The fee you agree is the entire commercial relationship between us, and nothing else is pulling on the conversation.

Confidential, including from whoever pays

What is said in a session stays in it. Employers who fund coaching receive take-up numbers and broad themes: no names, no attendance gossip, no summary of anybody's situation over coffee. It is written into every workplace agreement.

We meet people where they are

No lectures about coffee shops, and nothing you bring will be met with a sharp intake of breath. Judgement is not a technique. All it does is make people leave out the part that mattered.

Where the line is

How this is different from what you might expect

Three differences that change what actually happens between us, rather than how it is described.

Money and career in one conversation

Most practices do one or the other, so people tell half the story twice. A pay rise is a money outcome; a budget that will not balance is often an income problem in a spending costume. We work on both in the same hour.

Priced per programme, not per hour

No meter running while you think, and no invoice for the write-up. Every package is quoted after a free call and fixed in writing before anything starts.

The same coach, start to finish

You are not passed to somebody else once the paperwork is signed. Whoever you speak to on the discovery call is who you work with, and who remembers what you said in March.

The free services we point people towards

If one of these will serve you better than anything we would charge for, we will say so on the first call. It costs us a client and it is still the right answer.
